I set up my del.icio.us account. Some nasty person had already taken my ‘ironduke’ username. I perused the site.
At first I thought it all looked a bit messy and wondered if it is really worth the bother. On second thoughts, I now think it has benefits. In particular, the ability to set bookmarks on any computer and then have them accessible on any other computer is a definite advantage. It could be useful in allowing collaborative research among teachers or students. For instance, a class might have its own account and research and bookmark topics of interest which the whole class can then access and comment on. Tagging appears to be an imprecise art, but it could be a useful research aid if others are tagging with words which I give the same meaning.
I have set up a del.icio.us widget in the right side bar. I also successfully imported a folder of favourites from the PC I am using at the moment.
